(SDEC), with SAIC Motor Corporation Limited as its main shareholder, is a large state-owned high-tech enterprise engaged in research and development and manufacture of engines, engine parts and generator sets, possessing a state-level technical center, a postdoctoral working station, world-level automatic production lines and a quality assurance system that meets passage cars standards. SDEC now has seven series of high-quality diesel and natural gas engines, i.e. R, H, D, C, E, G and W series. In 2005, SDEC carried out a reinforcing design and 4-valve upgrading in cooperation with Southwest Research Institute (SwRI of US) according to the American heavy-duty diesel engine standards. The redesigned D series engine is an environment-friendly power product that meets higher emission standards. So far, over one million units have been sold in the last 20 years.

3.The H series engine is designed jointly by SDEC and RICARDO (UK) based on the Chinese market characteristics and by reference to the proven technology of advanced engines in the world. Developed with the GPDP development process and made in accordance with the SAIC MOTOR manufacturing standards, the H series is a new generation of 4-valve engine with reliability and fuel economy reaching the world-class level.

4.The E series diesel engine is jointly designed by SDEC and AVL (Austria) by reference to the world up-to–date engine design concept that meets the demands of heavy-duty commercial vehicles, construction machinery and heavy-duty agricultural machinery on good reliability, high efficiency and low fuel consumption. It is a brand new 4-valve engine platform made in accordance with the SAIC MOTOR manufacturing standards.
